“For I am the Lord, I change not…”
Malachi 3:6
I’m sure you have all heard this statement before. Sometimes referring to people, other times referring to organizations. Usually, it’s used negatively. “She’s a chronic liar,” someone says, “Well some things never change,” another person responds. But is there a time when this statement could be used positively?
In Malachi 3:6 God says, “For I am the Lord, I change not…” That’s incredible. Every human being changes over time. We hear theories and philosophies that change how we live and think. We are always changing. So how does someone who has been around for eternity never once change? That’s part of what makes God so amazing. He NEVER changes.
The history of mankind is filled with examples of sin and failure. Had we been God, we would be tempted to destroy this world and start over. Instead, God continued loving us unconditionally and giving us chance after chance to change. He never gives up on us and He won’t. He never changes.
I praise God that some things never change. Because God never changes I have a chance to live with Him forever one day. Because God never changes I have the chance to learn and grow every day. And because God never changes I can share what I know about Him confidently with the people around me. I can spread hope to those who need it. Not judgment, or condemnation. I can share hope because He never changes.
