It’s finally here! The end of the year. With summer break a few days away it’s easy to stop putting effort into our responsibilities. It’s like the whole school has a severe case of senioritis. It’s easy to do the least to make it by without putting in real effort or work. It’s almost easy to quit doing our responsibilities.
This year the senior class chose an interesting quote as their motto. “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.” I like this quote for several reasons. First of all, it encourages me to never give up. Even when things get tough, when the break is around the corner and I’m struggling to put effort into my homework, when I’m tired and worn out, I must never, never give up. Secondly, it reminds me that things aren’t always going to be easy. That seems like a funny thing to find encouraging but let me explain. If I am aware that things won’t always be easy I can prepare myself for the hard times early. I can choose to never give up ahead of time so when things get hard I am ready for it. I have already chosen to have a mindset to never quit.
This year I have had lots of practice in not giving up. Sometimes it was really hard. Sometimes all I wanted to do was run away from my problems. But with God’s help and encouragement from mentors I chose to never give up. Even though things started out very rough at the beginning, the year ended much better. If I had given up when things started getting hard I would have missed so many blessings and lessons God had for me.
As this school year ends and students all over the country are starting summer break, I want to encourage you to never give up. Whether you are a student going home for the summer or a parent working a tough job, please never give up. Life isn’t always sunshine and roses but there's always something good waiting for you if you persevere through the hard times. Look for what God is trying to teach you. Wait for Him and see what he has waiting for you if you keep going. Never give up!
This is our last blog post for the 2022-2023 school year and it has been a real pleasure to share these blog posts with you all year. I’m excited to see what God has in store for each one of us as we go our separate ways for the time being. Thanks for taking the time to read each of these posts. I sincerely hope that these blog posts have been a blessing to you. For now, I’m saying goodbye and see you again soon!
