The sun beat down on Sunny as she worked her way through the Walmart parking lot. It was spring break and she was canvassing. So far today she hadn’t really talked to many people. She turned and walked back the way she had come. Who knew how many times she had walked across this parking lot? Well, that didn’t matter really. She just needed someone to canvass.
She walked between some cars and then continued across an open stretch of the parking lot. Success! She spotted someone and made her way over to them. It was a man in his mid-forties maybe. Sunny introduced herself and told him what she was doing. He listened to her patiently and then told her that he couldn’t afford any books right now. He needed money for some much-needed car repairs. He seemed interested though. Sunny felt as though she should give him some money, but she couldn’t give him her canvassing donations. So instead she pulled out $15 of her own personal money and gave it to him. He thanked her for her kind gesture and she left him to continue canvassing.
Later that day as she was canvassing she talked to another young man. He listened patiently and then said he was not interested in getting any of her books. However, he wanted to donate something to her. He pulled out $20 and told her to have a nice day. As he walked away Sunny called her canvassing leader and told him about the donation she had made earlier and the donation she had just received. Her leader told her to keep the $20.
Sunny excitedly realized that God had given her back the money that she had so kindly shared with someone earlier. You always hear the saying, “God loves a cheerful giver”. Sunny experienced this in her own life. She had unselfishly given her own money to help someone else and God had given it all back plus a few more dollars.
God truly does bless us as we bless others. Find some way to help or bless someone today. God will repay you in one way or another.
