“Blessed Are They That Thirst.”

November 5, 2018

“When are you going to come back to Cuba with Oklahoma Academy?” the conference president asked me during my visit to Cuba this past spring. Originally the chorale had planned to visit prominent Reformation sites in Europe. I prayed, “God, if you want us to go to Cuba, I need some Spanish-speaking students!” Did God answer my prayer? This school year, the numb

er of Spanish students enrolled, surpasses the number we had when we visited Cuba in 2003. I believe “God must want us in Cuba.” In obedience to this call, in March 2019 our chorale will be going to Camaguey, a central province of Cuba.

For the last sixty years, the people of Cuba have essentially been in bondage and they are thirsting for the Word of God. When we go, we will split into five teams of seven to eight people. Every team will have an assortment of children’s program coordinators, health presenters, student evangelists, and translators. These groups will also share God’s love through music. Cubans love music. In fact, the last time Oklahoma Academy toured Cuba, every concert seat was filled. Many even looked in through the windows. They loved it!

On our upcoming tour, in addition to giving concerts--we will present all the doctrines of the Seventh-day Adventist Church through the sanctuary message. Many people, even the seminary students in Cuba, have not heard the entirety of the sanctuary message and yearn to know its truths.

We need the spirit of God and your prayers to prepare us to speak the truth to those who have never heard it. We will meet many obstacles in our mission. Getting a religious visa for Cuba is difficult unless you know the right people. Cuba’s transportation is poor, so the citizens will need help traveling to the meetings. Covering the expenses for this trip will require $1,400 per student. But with your prayers and generous support, we trust God will supply the need. What you give will make a world of difference for God’s lost children in Cuba.
